The process that takes place in a video camera to reduce or eliminate the phenomenon of noise or picture disturbance in video footage or still frames being caused by a number of factors. This is done at the time of recording otherwise known as real time noise reduction. Commonly done by complex algorithms present in the camera’s software otherwise known as firmware. Can also be done after footage or still capture and this is known as post production editing and is done by using software either supplied with the camera or purchased separately.
